About St. Timothy's Church
We are a Total Ministry
Congregation
At St. Timothy’s we believe in and practice Baptismal Ministry — a fancy phrase for remembering that at baptism we are all committed to worshiping together, persevering in resisting evil, proclaiming the gospel, seeking and serving Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves, and striving for justice and peace among all people and respecting the dignity of every human being. This commitment is both as individuals and as a congregation. We live into this concept of ministry by each exercising our individual gifts in a way that enables the whole community to respond to God’s expectations for all of us.
We are self-supporting and supportive of one another. The business of the congregation is run by a Vestry, and the spiritual growth of the congregation is guided by a Ministry Team of clergy and lay persons responsible for facilitating worship, pastoral care, and fellowship.
We are a Eucharistic Community
We center our worship around the Eucharist — sometimes called the Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper, or the Mass. It is worship instituted by Jesus Christ, and continued in an unbroken tradition of 2000 years.
We are a Joyful Community
We believe that our Christian life together is supposed to be a joyful life together. We enjoy fellowship with one another, and we welcome visitors into our midst with even more joy. Our special love is children. They are the future of each family, the future of our world, and the future of our church. They are always welcome. Child care is provided for the benefit of the parents, not to keep the church quiet. The Psalms say to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. We are glad to hear our children when they do just that!
